COMPETITIONS SOCIETY.

A meeting of the committee of the New <sealand Competitions Society was held last evening. Tho chair was occupied by Dr. Izard (vice-president) and subsequently by Mr. \\. H. Atack. Tho amounts on tho expenditure sule included grants to tho judges, Me w?" li Gre eson, C. N. Baeyertz, and C. Wilson; to tho secretary (Jlr. J. Dykes), the treasurer (Mr. R. Keenan), Mrs Montague (accompanist). Mr. A -U Llwain (stage manager), Mr. Scott Colnlle, of Auckland, who came to Wellington in connection with the flotation of the society, and to Mr. D. Leslie (custodian of the Town Hall). It was decided that tho right to become members of tho society in the terms of the invitation printed in tho programme or the competitions bo cancelled. This provided for a season ticket to admit two being issued for .£1 Is., an amount which experience has shown to be somewhat inadequate to tho privilege granted. A finance committee, consisting of Father Hickson, Messrs W. A. Flavell, J. M. Olark, J. Helhwell, and the secretary and treasurer (ex-offlcio), was set up to consider a variety of matters bearing on the financial aspect of tho competitions. A committee, consisting of Father Hickson, Rev E. O. B amires, Messrs. W. H. Ataok and J. il. Clark, was appointed to sketch out a draft programme for next year's competitions, to bo submitted to a meeting to be held next month. On Mr. Atack's suggestion it was decided to advance the date of next'year's competitions slightly, to commence probablv on Monday, October 14. It was also decided that next year's festival bo held in the lowii Hall, and tho secrctarv was instructed to pencil in dates accordingly.
