NOTES AND COMMENTS. [Bv Glencoe.] Despite the admitted excellence of Mr. G. Morse's handicapping of tho Auckland Cup field, it rather appears on close examination that he will havo a very hard task to get a dozen horses to the post. Los Angeles seemed to go off during the C.J.C. meeting, and may not see the post, and Bobrikoft is unsound, though his trainer expressed the opinion last week that he would stand. Waimangu, Miss Mischief, and Sedition may be relied upon, but Lady Lucy is in the paddock, and so is Birkdalo. The two crack threo-year-olds, Counterfeit and Masterpiece, are not likely to troublo the starter. At least the pair will not, even if one does. Miscount will be there, but the distance is too far for Mendip and Electrakoff, whilo Goldfinder is hardly likely to stand winding up. Master Wairiki, Soultoria, and Domino aro all on tho spot, and may pay up, but King Soult is nono too sound. Others likely to make the acceptance are Antoinette, Labour Day, and those two good oolts, General Latour and Midnight Sun. Tho way in which tho former finished in the Great Northern Guineas impressed several good judges, and stamped him as <i likely stayer, though whether his trainer will got him ready in
time is another question. Santa Rosa is in tho same stable as Waimangn, and intiy start on Boxing Day in the interest of last year's winner. Sanskrit is an Aus-tralian-bred horse, owned by Dr. Bennett. Ho ran unplaced in the llclbourno Cup, and may not bo good enough to send eveross, though his owner will b© present to seo his two-year-old, Erry Roe, run at tho samo meeting. Salute got into a fence recently, and was knocked about; and of tho long (Ail, Coromandel, Maxwell, nnd Sea Elf are tho most likely to make tho next payment.
Tho Wanganui sportsman, Mr. R. Narclle, who races Grandee, recently purchased tho hurdlo horse Winchester. Ho will race in his new owner's colours at Feilding at tho end of tho month.
I , '. Tillcy, with Enuitas, Goodwin. Park, and tho yearling filly by Boniforiu from Helen Portland, passed through Wellington yesterday oil liis way home from Ricmrlon.
Tho splendid form of Equitas at I'icoarlon is likely (o cause backers to make her the early favourite for the Railway Handicap at Auckland, and, indeed, it will be a eurpriso if ,sho does not hold her position until the hour of starting, Mi,
Morse has not been nt all hard on her, so that her lessee has every reason to sf.irt her. Further, his lon.se expires early in January, so. taking everything into consideration, it will bo a groat surprise if sho is missing when tho field luces the starter.

Ladv Isabol (dam of Boiirrasqnc) arrived a I: Bushy Park from Shannon on Wednesday on a visit to Signor. Tho South Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting will lx> held at Timaru on Wednesday and Thursday next.
At Bushy Park, Mr. Lan Duncan's Charmaiu (half-sister to Kilwinning) has fpalod a bay filly to Achilles, and visits Signer.
Other foalings at Bushy Park are :— Docility (dam of Golden Loop), b. c. to Rignor; Rau Rau (dam of Golden Eagle, Coronetted, etc.), br. c. to Signor; Billingsgato maro (dam of St. Bill, etc.), ch. 1., to Coronot; and Amai, b. f. (dead) to S:gnor.
J. Stewart, the well-known crosscountry rider, returned to Australia by last night's steamer.
Masterpiece and Counterfeit havo both been withdrawn from the St. Andrew's Handicap in favour of Avarice.
Referring to Nyland's victory in the Stewards' Handicap at Riecarton, a Sydney writer makes tho following remark about his trainer-.-Prico has done well since he took charge of "Mr. Highden's" team, but it was only to be expected such a level-headed individual would make a success of horse-training. If Mr. Watt wishes- to dispose of Bridge in Melbourne he should have no difficulty in so doing. They are keen on jumpers down south, and "what a hurdler he'd mako" was an oft-heard expression when Bridge used to appear on the training track at Caulfield.—"The Arrow."
One of the big winners over the Canlfield and Melbourne Cups double was the ei-New Zealand trainer, D. J. Price.
Tho withdrawal of Masterpiece, Mendip, Merrivonia, Counterfeit, and Sandstream from the St. Andrew's Handicap at Feilding will rob the race of a good deal of interest. Considering tho form which Sandstream showed in his last few starts it was generally considered that he would not make tho acceptance with Sst. 81b. An extraordinary case of twin foals is reported from the Bushy Park Stud Farm. On November 3, Mr. G. F. Moore's brood mare Carrara (CravatMantelpiece) foaled a weak colt to Signor, and, nino days later, she foaled a firo strong filly. Tho colt died, but the filly promises well. Stnd Groom J. Hay, who has had experience in several of tlio largest studs in New Zealand, has never known of a similar case. In connection with the summer meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club, owners and trainers aro reminded that nominations for oil events, excepting the Palmerston North Stakes, close with tho secretary, on Friday, November 24 at 10 p.m. ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT.
