STRIKERS SENTENCED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, November 15. The Independent Labour party has given notice that it will move an amendment at the annual conference to be held in Britnraghain in January next in favour of the establishment by law of a general minimum wage of 30s. a week; also a motion condemning the Government use. of military during the recent railway strike. The Miners' Federation Conference has adjourned pending furthor negotiations and the result of the Conciliation Board's meeting in December next. Two strikers were sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment for participating in looting during tho Liverpool railway strike. A railway porter received a sentence of eight months' imprisonment for tampering with points during the striko at Clydach Vale. The Board of Trade reports thnt, apart from casual workers, applications received by tho Labour Exchanges during tho last nine months totalled 1,197,843, and that tho vacancies filled numbered 324,270. STRIKE PROPOSAL VETOED. (Bee. November IC, 11.10 p.m.) London, November 16. Tho Miners , Federation discussed a re- j solution in favour of an immediato ballot on tho general strike, but an amendment to make efforts to secure a settlement without a. striko was carried by 3CG,000 to 228,000. Tho minority chiefly represented South Wales and Northumberland men. Tho Independent Labour party passed resolutions at tho Birmingham Conference in opposition to Mr. Will Crooks's Labour Dispute Bill, and a declaration was mado that thero would bo a general striko if tho abolition of picketing is attempted. The Great Northern Railway increased tho minimum wage to the lower grades, with an advanco of a shilling a week to thoso already receiving tho new minimum scale.
