(From Onr Special CorrcsDondent.l Palmerston North, November 15. The chief business before the Borough Council last evening was tho decision to again placo before tho ratepayers proposals to raiso money for the extension of the seiverago system, and to carry out a number of road works, the total "loan to be .£12,430. It was also decided to iustal filters for the waterworks. Users of tho borough water will no doubt bo extremely pleased with this innovation, as every heavy rain leaves its impression on the water service. It was reported that buildings permits to the value of ,£10,750 had been issued last month. On the recommendation of the Library Committee, the council decided to make alterations to the library building at a cost of .£l2O. The room, which was formerly occupied as a museum, will be devoted to magazines. Tho Mayor reported that Mr. Black, electrical engineer, of Auckland, had arrived with a view to making his report on the proposal to instal electric trams.

The Terrace End School Committee met last'evening, Mr. A. J. Zortt presiding. The headmaster (Mr. F. Fairbrothcr) reported that there were 410 names on the roll. The average attendance was -IfiG, the highest attendance being 412. Crabbe, and tho president of tho W.C.T.U. (Mrs. n. Mowline). The three rooms havo been nicely fitted up. "Trial by Jury" is to be staged by a number of amateurs at tho Opera House on November 20 and 30. Tho performance- is in aid of All Saints' building fund, and a number of the, Wellington Savages have promised assistance.
