PETONE AFFAIRS.
.. ' BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING. The Petonc Borough Council met last evening, there being present; The Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'Ewen), and Councillors R. W. Shorty J. Piper, V. R. Lodder, J. List, J. Wakebam, C. I'. Brockiebank, W. Cox, W.'Trueman. The borough engineer's report of works stated that the extension of the watermftiils to. the Hntt Park township had been completed, at a cost of .£93 10s. f>d., under the estimate of XD7. A further extension for a distance of about six chiiins, at a cost of MO, was recommended. The engineer advised that the connecting up'of the Percy Estate with the Eastern drainago system would overtax the pumping plant, already fully taxed. The trotting track in tho. Recreation Ground ha.d been examined, and found to bo 20 per cent, belter than its condition of last.yea.T. Further top-dressing, at a cost of ,£ll, was recommended. The report was adopted.
