Evidence given at (lie inquest concerning tho death of Maggie Gallalier, a singlo woman aged .'l7, showed tliat (ho woman fell off ft moving (ram to Richmond on Thursday night, but no adequate explanation was forthcoming of her fall. Halfway between two stopping place? she stood up suddenly without saying anything and fell backwards to the road. A verdict was relumed of accidental death. AGED ASYLUM INMATE. Dunedin, NoveiubeT 13. Patrick Coaklev. 92 years of age, an inmate of tho mental asylum at Waitati, wandered from the institution on September 2-1. His body has been found iu the bush two miles away. ENGINE BELTING. Christchurch, November 13. William Lurch, a young man employed at Aulsebrook's biscuit fnctorv, was liillrd by being caught in the belt nf an engine. Tie was whirled round (he pnllev and terribly injured, SERIOUS AFFAIR AT TE ARAL Gisbornc, November 13. Mr. Arnold RouUiwaitc, an expert for the Dominion milking machines, sustained a severe accident at To Arai. His foot caught in tho belting of an oil engine, and liis leg envied round the wheel, the thigh being broken, and Iho leg l>elow the knee fractured in nine places. Amputation was performed last night.
