The stewards held an inquiry into the running of Gold Bird, as compared with his previous form, and decided that C. Pritchard (tho trainer) and V. Wcller). nermia caused a lot of trouble at tho start, and after breaking the tapes three limes, was sent back to the paddock by the steward in charge of the start. When the field was sent away Equitas was quickest to begin, with Nyland and Byron next, while Dazzling got bumped on to tho rails, and Longstop was left several lengths. With two furlongs gone, Equitas was still showing tho way to Nyland and Byron, Floater being at the head of tho others. Coming round the turn the order of the first three was unchanged, they being well clear of Avarice and Ireland. When the straight was reached Byron had taken second place, but Equitas was going along well in front, and she maintained her advantage to tho finish, winning by two lengths. Ireland, who shot out inside the distance, was a length and a half behind Byron, with Nyland a length back fourth, followed by Medallist, Dazzling, and Floater. Time, lmin 29sec. Morecambe and Mumura were first to oreak the line, and showed the way to tho mile post, with Parable next. Approaching the seven-furlong post Mumura was in front, Mendip, Parable, and Tannhauser being at the head of the rest. Rounding the turn Tannhanoer had taken charge, but at the distance Electrnkoff put rn his claim, and a little further on Tannhnnser was beaten. Bonny Glen then shot to the front, only to bo at once challenged by Rose Noble, who won by a length. Birklino was three-quarter? of a length away third, with The Cornet fourth, Tannhnuser fifth, and Blectrakoff sixth. Time, 2min. 7 3-ssec.
