Imperialist troops uro burning Nankin and looting private houses. Over fifty thousand have loft tho city. Tlio Tartar garrison, demented with tho idea of self-preservation ran amok, killing men, women, and children indiscriminately. All students without queues were butchered, oven people in mourning wero murdered owing to the fact that their white clothes wero symbols of revolutionary sympathies. At least a thousand wero killed.
PREPARATIONS AT PEKING. Peking, November 10. A quarter of a million inhabitants have fled. Ball cartridges have been served to the Legation Guards. The shops are beginning to barrieado. British bluejackets are guarding tho European quarters at Canton. Four guns have been landed. Tho New York "Herald's" Tokio correspondent states that transports carrying three thousand troops left Yokohama presumably for North China. REJOICINGS AMONGST CHINESE. Singapore, November 10. There are extraordinary rejoicings amongst the Chinese ■in the Straits Settlements over the success of tho revolution. WARSHIP MOVEMENTS EXPLAINED. Melbourne, November 11. The Federal Prime Minister, Mr. Fisher, states that tho -visit of the warships Pegasus and Prometheus to China is a special one, tho result of a rearrangement, and has nothing to do with the revolution. Ships might be sent from China to take their places. The matter was ono on which no publio announcement could be made.
