Taylor, Liberal M.P. for Ratcliffe, is at present in Australia, and expects to arrive in Auckland ou the 22nd, with the intention to go on to Rotorua. Tho death is reported at Palmerston North of Mr Alfred Moore, brother of Mr. F. T. Moore, of Johnsonville. The deceased, who was a well-known stock buyer in the Wellington-Manawatu district, mot with a serious trap accident about two years ago, from- the effects of which ho never thoroughly recovered. Ho leaves a widow and four children. The funeral will leave Thorndon Station at 2.30 to-morrow for the cemetery, Karori. Mr. Wm. Guise, a well-known member of tho Victoria Bowling Club, and for 35 years an employee of Messrs. R. Hannah and Co., is seriously ill. Mr. T. G. Fitzgerald, representative for Pathe Frercs in New Zealand, has returned to Wellington from Australia. He has been attending a conference of tho firm's managers in Melbourne. Mr. James Harrison, of the Auckland staff of the New Zealand Insurance Cotapany, has been appointed the company's inspector in tho Auckland district. His headquarters will be at Hamilton. In a .Gazette announcement published last evening the Neiv Zealand Government officially recognises the appointment of Mr. Chow Si Lanchu as Chinese Consul for New Zealand.

Father Doolaghty, a reeentlyordained priest, who is to take up work in the Wellington diocese, arrived from tko Old Country on Wednesday, father Doolaghty, who for the present is to assist the Kev. Father Ilickson at Thornton, received his training for the priesthood at the Thuries Seminary, County Tipperary, Ireland.

The funeral of the late Mr. .T. Massey (father of Mr. W. F. Massey, Leader of the Opposition) took place at the Mangero Presbyterian Cemetery oil Tuesday afternoon. The cortege, which left "Fr-mk-lynne," the residence of Mr. \Y. F. Massey, was a very Ion;; one, the friends of the deceased from far and near attending in large numbers to pay a last mark of respect to the deceased. A largo number of tho friends of Mr. W. F. Massey wore also present. The bereaved family received numerous mes-sages of condolence, among them being a Inrjre numbor of telegrams sent to Mr. W. F. Massc.v, representative of all shades of politics, from various parts of tho Dominion.

His wife was a daughter of tho lato Mr. K. Collins, of Xowlmry. Deceased loaves a wife and three children.
