(From Our Soeclal CorrosDondenU.) 4 FEILDING. Some difficulty has been experienced by tho Feildiug Horticultural Society in tiling a date for their spring show. The Itongotca, Palmerston, and Levin shows have been fixed for November 22 and 23. Tho Wednesday following will bo a race day, and the first Wednesday in December will bo the day* preceding Iho general elections. It has now been decided to hold it on Friday, November 24. Mr. J'. Henson, of Mount Stewart, trucked 50 Romney ram hoggets to Mr. Frank Sheriff, of Piritaha, about 50 miles from Gisbome. A meeting of the Sam Daw fund committee was held on Tuesday night, when the secretary (Mr. E. A. Garlick) reported that the total amount collected was <C3G 12s. The expenditure amounted to .£1 Is., leaving a credit balanco of .£35 Bs. It will probably bo decidcd to invest tho money on Mr. Daw's behalf so that ho might have the use of. it later oil when required.

At the annual meeting of the Feilding Horticultural Society officers were elected as follow—President, Mrs. Cobbes,; vicepresidents, Mesdames J. E. Barltrop, P. Y. Lethbridge, Aylmer, F. E. Richardson, Misses Roe, E. Roe. and Messrs. L. T. Brown, J. Aylraor, J. A. Tingey. and G. Fitzpatrick. Mr. Fred. Pirani was re-elected secretary and Mrs. Barron treasurer.

At tho monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court held hero on Monday, Robert M'Kiniion claimed from Chas. I'riugharu, sheepfarmer, of Pigeon Bush, tlio sum of .£'s4, of which .£.50 was alleged to be duo as a bonus promised by defendant when engaging plaintiff as manager, and •£1 balance of wages due in lieu of notice. Plaintiff stated that he had largely reduced the heavy losses of sheep previously sustained on tho property, and in other ways had improved its earning capacity, and on that account considered that he was entitled to tho sum claimed in addition to salary received. Defendant stated that M'Kinnon had been engaged as a shepherd, ho admitted that a bonus had been promised to plaintiff if his services proved satisfactory at the end of twelvo months, but tho amount of such payment was to be determined by the employer. Plaintiff had not completed twelvo months' service, and had been dismissed for neglect of duties. Tho magistrate held that plaintiff had not proved tho existence of a specific contract to pay a bonus, but ho gavo judgment for £l, as wages duo in lieu of sufficient notice of dismissal.

Mr. L. C. Hawk, of the Bank of Australasia here, and a prominent member of local athletic bodice, has been transferred to Wanganui. A cricket match between the Masterton and South Wairarapa Clubs was commenced at Featherston on Saturday. The latter team made 33 runs in its first innings, of which Cobcroft contributed 22. Growers apparontly arc in no hurry to market tlio clip, which is expccted to bo a good one. A representative of ono of tho loading meat companies informed thowritor that thero would bo a sliortago in tho perccntago of lambs this year of about 20 per cent., notwithstanding that tho season has been a mild one.
