MASTERTON NOTES.
. 1 (From Oar Special Correspondent.) Masterton, November 6. Mr. William Gillespie, returning officer for the Masterton electorate, has just returned from a tour of tho electorate. He has arranged for forty-eight polling places, which is' about ten more than were at the last election. The Southdown ram imported by Mr. A. J. Stone-Wigg will be a valuable addition to tho stud flock of that breeder. Tho ram is a two-tooth, and conies from a splendid strain, both his fixe and mother having taken prizes at tho Royal Show. At a meeting of directors of tha Masterton Co-operative Dairy Company, held on Saturday last, Mr. E. Carlton Holmes was appointed a director, to fill the vacancy oaused by tho resignation of Mr. R. A. Thompson. A letter was received from tho Prime Minister, thanking tho company for communicating with him in roforence to the improvement of Homo distribution and the opening of new markets by tho High Commissioner. Tho Premier promised to havo tho matter looked into. It was decided to continue tho advance of 9d. per lb. for butter-fat. Tho fifty-fifth anniversary services of tho Masterton Methodist Sunday School wore held yesterday. Tho church was profusely decorated with flowers and evergreens for the occasion, and special music was rendered. Tho annual meeting of tho Masterton Swimming Club is to be held this evenin?- ; The Rev. A. T. Thompson left' for Dunedin this morning to attend tho Presbyterian Assembly in that city.
