THE NEW THEATRE.
The final screening of the current series of' subjects of tho continuous picture show drew full houses at the New Theatre yesteri.ly afternoon and evening. The customary change o' programme to-day Ark domestic drama. A ■Geranium,' by tho Vitagraph Company. Inis is a touching story with a happy ending. It tells of a noor crippled girl, who, by the good ofticcs of a iriend, secures the best medical attention,' and is thereby restored to perfect health, much to tho delight of her relations. '"Lie Sheriff of black Gulch" is an exciting Western narrative by the Bison Company. It is full of thrilling situations. Ihe Cincs Company are responsible for an inipress ; ve drama " V WjF' otber productions include Iho Itose ot Kentucky" (an -V B Company s drama), "Padstow'" (an Eclair scenic), Tontolini Stops Everything" (Cines comedy), and "The Cuwhoy ami the Shrew (a belig comedy). The new items mil be shown continuously from 11 a.m. till U o clock to-night. On Thursday a specially exelusivS historic jihoto. play, Judas Maccabcus,'' will be introduced.
THE COMPETITIONS. This evening's programme for the New Zealand competitions is one that, is of great local interest, chiefly from tho fact that the local church choirs will compete in the first heat of the big choir contest for the ehallengo shield presented by Messrs. Chas. Hogg and Co., Wellington, jiorcover, the final of the impromptu debate will be fought out on a humorous subject—this subject to be chosen by the judge. It will only be announced to the competitors as they come on to the stage. A flute solo by the winner, and the "Hiimorous Male Quartet"' will complete a very interesting and varied programme. The box plan for the two grand demonstration nights (Thursday and Friday), when the programmes will be'made up from the first prize winners of tho competitions, is open at the Dresden.
BAND PERFORMANCE. The Garrison Band is to give a per. formanco at Lyall Bay, at 8 o'clock tonight.
