Describing the Derby at tho Victorian Racing Club's meeting on Saturday, tho "Sydney Morning Herald" says;—"Tho lino was quickly broken by Posio, Durdans, and Cisco, while Crown Grant, Wilari, and Jacamar wore among the slowest to find their legs. Going out of the straight Jacamar'got a bump, which did not improve his chances. Opening up the river stretch, the leading division comprised Posio, Durdans, and Woolerina, The last-named ran jiast Posio at the nine furlongs,, and Posio faded out. After passing the bridge, Woolerina led along tho back to tho sheds, whero Radiator, Jacamar, and Flaith were the nearest attendants. Mcantimo Wilari was gradually working her way from tho rear. As Posadas and Woolerina swung into the home stretch, Jacamar, Cisco, Radiator, and Crown Grant were in hot pursuit. Wilari then came through in fine style. Neariflg the distance Jacamar forged to the front, and his victory waa loudly proclaimed. Insido this point Cisco put in a claim, and the pair settled down to fight it out. Wilari now appeared on tho scene, getting on terms ere the half-distance had been reached. A great battle ensued. Cisco had Jacamar beaten insido that point, but succumbed to the prowess of Wilari, who, finishing with the greatest resolution, beat hiin by a narrow margin. Jacamar finished at Cisco's girths. It was a great finish, -worthy of tho traditions of Flemington." The "Daily Telegraph" says:—"All got well away, Jacamar, who swung wide, being last. At the milo and a quarter Woolerina assumed control. At tho mile Jacamar was going great guns. From that point he was joined by Radiator in the second place. Woolerina began to cry 'a go' as the home turn was reached. The first to enter tho homo stretch was Crown Grant, Jacamar, and Radiator. Jacamar here shot out, putting up a length lead. Tho shouts of thousands proclaimed a victory, but the winning-post was yet a long way away. Radiator, Cisco, and Piastre, with Wilari oil the outside, began to draw up, and Jacamar was unablo to stem the onslaught. At the half-distance, Wilari, Piastre, and Cisco joined him, and from that a cracking finish resulted. Though Cisco looked like reaching home first, Wilari, by a determined effort, passed him in the last stride, and jvon, amidst great excitement, by a head."
