$ WHARF LABOURERS RESUME. By Tclesraph—Press Assoctation-Copyriehl Sydney, November 6. All sections of the wharf labourers have resumed work. .Everything is going on quietly. Dr. Kelly, Catholic Archbishop cf Sydney, declared that to strike was the last thing Australians should do. Tho wharf labourers turned up in great numbers for work to-day, but only about 2000 were taken on owing to the comparative scarcity of vessels in the harbour. Owing to the rush of merchants to remove goods from the wharves tho streets in the neighbourhood were blocked with traffic for many hours. MOUNT LYELL DISPUTE. ULTIMATUM BY THE ENGINEDRIVERS. Melbourne, November 6. The Engine-drivers' and Firemen's Association has issued an ultimatum to ihe proprietors of the Mount Lyell mine, in Tasmania. The association declares that the firemen will ceaso work to-day if they are not granted tho terms set out in Mr. Justice Higgins's proposed award; also that the motor-drivers and electrical workers will cease work unless they receive tho terms proposed in tho award and granted tho Broken Hill men. Neither the miners nor the enginedrivers will return to work until it is decided to start them on the following terms-.—Recognition of the union, and the eight-hour principle, tin increase ot wages, conference with directors, and that agreements shall be signed by both the directors and the officials of the union. Tho secretary of the Engine-drivers' Union states that the claim for tho reinstatement of Norman "White, the union official, who was dismissed, has been dropped.
