ANNUAL MEETING OF COUNCIL. the champ roNsmrs. The animal meeting of the Council of tlie New Zealand Amateur, Athletic Association was held last evening. Mr. E. L. Olwill'ev presided, and there were also present: Messrs. \Y. F. J.arkin, B. A. Cliiise, .1. C- Cus,iek. T. Crouch, A. Davios, A. Jlarryatt, C. L\ Bridge, ami W. 0. Talbot (secretary). The 'umiual report ami balance-sheet (previously published) were adopted. In moving the adoption ot the report the chairman made special reference to the generous support received iron! the Government anil from sundry private individuals to enable Now Zealand to be represents at the Festival cf Empire sports. He also mentioned the Australasian championships to be held in Wellington next month, a.nd stated that, as victoria would probably l)R Mrongly represented this year, it would be advisable for tho council to bestir themselves in order to pet. In connection with the meeting, a very old walking enthusiast, Mr. .1. h> Fowler-Di.ton, of the stalV of tho London "Sportsman," hn<l promised to present a trophy for tho best style walker competing at the sporU.
