MUNICIPAL ORCHESTRA.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT. Tlio series of twelve concerts given by tho Municipal Orchestra terminated with tho concert last Venrsday. The total rccoints amounted to .0311 Bs., and tho expenses came to .C3BB Os. 5d., being -£73 12s. sd. in excess of the receipts. _ The following are tho details of expenditure i —Players fees, .€260 2s. Gd.; attendants' wages, .£22 lGs.; insurance, £2 35.; cartage and sungrammes, .C 59 lGs. Gd.; purchase of music, .£8 lis. 9d.; music stands, JM 9s. Gd.; signwriting, .£•! 10s.; hire of piano, £2 Hies.; insurance, .62 35.; cartage and sundries, .£2 15s. 2d.; total, .£3BB Gs. sd. In connection with the orchestra the citizens who gave a guarantee against loss are being approached to continue that gunranteo for the coming season. The deficiency on last year's operations was ,£73 12s. 5d., of which amount the City Council is prepared to pay .£25, provided guarantors are willing to renew their guarantee for another twelve months. It is not anticipated that there will bo any difficulty in obtaining this renewal.
