Competition was keen for all classes, and a total clearance was made, with' the exception of ono pen of store cows. Mr. Newton King's weekly report:—On Friday, October 2V, I held my animal bull t:iir at Suvitford, and had a good attendance, considering the boisterous weather. Only about three-quarters of the entries camo forward, and the quality throughout f/as only fair. Bidding was brisk lor the Shorthorn a.nd Jorsey bulls, but the second grade _ cattle were very slow. Only one Holstciu bull was entered, and realised £13 55.;, Shorthorn bulls, from £7 to £13; Jerseys, £5 to £9; yearling do., £2 15s. to £3; Ayrshire bulls, t5 17s. 6d. to £5 Is.
- am holding a supplementary bull fair on November 6. At Urcnui, on Monday, October 30, I hid a large entry and a good attendance of the public. Bidding throughout was good, and practically everything was soia before the end of the sale. Yearling heifers made £2 lis. to £2 18s. 6d.; yearling steers, £2 lis. to £2 125.; 15-months steers to 18-monthi, £3 65.; two to two and a half-year do., £4 to £4 Bs.; storo cows, £3 ss. to £3 IDs. 6d.; forward, £3 17s. to £4 Bs.; fats, £3 18s.; bullocks, poor, £5 18s.; four-year do., £6 10s.; cows and calves, £3 10s. to £4 '.e.; empty heifers, good, £4 ss. to £4 Bs.; small, £3 Bs. to £3 155.; springing cows, £4 17s. 6d. to £7 155.; springing heifers, £5 2s. 6d. to £7 55.; bulls, £4 to £6 55.; wothers, 145.; fat do.. 17a.; hoggets, 12s. lOd. to 14s. lCd.; ewes ami lambs, lis. 10d.; old ewes, 3s. 9d. to us. Mr. 0. Topliss, inn., yarded a nice line of yonng bulls, in the pink of condition, and they met with keen inquiry, the Shorthorns Tcalising £5 10s. to £9 55.; and the llolstein?, £12 ss. At Stratford on Tuesday, October 3i. then-was a very heavy yarding, practically every pen being full. Forward cows and yearling heifers told well, but the demand for stores was not so keen. A nice line of 15-inonths grade Jersey heifers realised £3 15s. 6d.; yearling heifers, £2 12s. to £2 15s. 6d.; yearling steers, £2 10s. to £2- 13s. 6d.: mixed yearlings, £2 10s. 6d.; forward cowe, £3 17s. to £4 145.; stores, £2 14s. 6d. to £3 Us.; empty two-yejr heifer.-. £3 7s. to £4 Is.; ye;.rhng bulls, il Bs.; Jersey do., £5 2s. 6d.; fat cows, £6. On the same day at my springing heifer yards, I had a pood entry, though ttic bidding was not so brisk as at recent sales. Good heifers and covvs sold well, though second-grade stock were hard to quit. Springing heifers, good, £6 15s. to £10 155.: oihers. £3 ss. to i%; cows, springing and in milk. £6 to £10 7s. 6d. At Stony Kiver, on Wcdnes«vy, all available pens were filled, and inere was a large attendance cf the public. Bidding was only fair, but good business resulted during the dav.
