At the Police Court to-day a man named Joseph Linton, who was convicted of disorderly conduct and using obscene language, was fined £3 or seven days in gaol. An elderly lady named Mrs. Egan slipped on the verandah of her house in David Street this morning, and had the misfortune to break her thigh. She was removed to the hospital, and, having been in indifferent health for some time, is suffering severely from the injury and the shock.
