MASTERTON NOTES.
(From Oar Special Correspondent.! November 3. The Mastcrton Gun Club concluded tho shoot for Mr. A. P. Whatman's trophy yesterday. Tho result was a win for Mr. H. Allen, who recorded thirty kills m three matches, out of forty-five birds. Mr. H. Douglas and Mr. C F. Sidcy tied for second place. A pigeon race was flown from Frankton Junction yesterday under the auspices of the Masterton Homing Pigeon Club. Tho winning bird (Mr. W. Drake's ■ "Sea Queen") completed the distance of 220 miles in 5 hours 2G minutes. A number of important sales of land have been effected in tho Masterton district during the last few weeks. Messrs. J. Eraser and Co. report having sold six different properties, aggregating .£GS,GOO in value. The most recent sale is the Sroperty of Mr. Hugh Morrison, near tatiuao, and containing 1020 apres. The Surchaser was a son of Mr. Donald L'Kenzie, and tho price paid was .£25,000. The Masterton Gun Club has decided to hold a big shoot on December M for a pigeon gun valued at i!2O. The match will be open to tho whole of the clubs ill tho Wairarapa.
