TAXING MOTOR-CARS.
The suggestion recently made in Now South Wales by a number of municipal and shire councils that a new tax should bo levied on the owners of motor-cars in order to provide funds for road maintenance and other works has formed tho subject of a good deal of adverse discussion in motor circles. It is claimed that as there aro two sides to every question an opportunity should bo given to the motorists to lay their views beforo the Government beforo any definite move is decided upon, and tho Minister for ■\Vorks_ recently intimated that on Thursday, November 2, ho will receive a deputation from the Automobile Club of Australia to discuss tho proposed tax.
