Macmahon and Lodder's new picture theatre in Queen Street occupied tho attention of lour judg&i for several hours yesterday afternoon. Several days had bf«n occupied by a special staff in tho classification of the 20,000 odd nnines, Finally the judges raluunl the choice (0 threo names—"Down Town Theatre,"
"The Gem," and "l'iehiredrome," and tho first-named was ultimately decided iipn, tlie winner being: Mr. L. F. Birch. cheque was this morning paid over to tho winner, but it does not necessarily follow that tho name selected by the judges will bo that finally applied by tho proprietors to (lie theatre, which will be opened 011 November 18.
