Ashburton, November 1. The Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association's thirty-fourth annual show was opened to-day in fine hot weather. Entries higher than last year, though not up to. the record, and competition is keen in many of Hie sheep and horse classes. Taken gmcrally, the display of stock is distinctly r'tritorious, though all of it will not bo on (he grounds till to-morrow.
