TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME.
Another highly attractive programme is ■scheduled for to-day. In each of tho sections the entries are very heavy and some close contests are anticipated. The following are tho competitions set for this morning and afternoon:— At 9 a.m. —Prepared reading (ladies and gentlemen). Test, "Manhood and Purpose" from George Meredith's "Richard Feverel."
At 9.30 a.m. —Piano solo (under 1G). Test—"The Harmonious Blacksmith" (Handel).
At 11 a.m.—Violin solo (under 16). Test —"Barcarolle in G (Spohr). At' 11.30 a.m.—Dramatic rccital (for competitors who have never received a fee). Test, "Ring- Out, Wild Bells." At 2 p.m.—Sacred baritone solo. Test— "It is Enough," from "Elijah." At. 4.3(1 p.m.—Duet (lady and gentleman). Test—"Down the Vale" (F. W. Moir).
The very handsome 35 guinea shield presented by Messrs. Begg nnd Co. to the winner of the Church Choir contest in connection with the competitions is now on view at the Dresden Piano Company's warehouse.
