fr. AGITATION FOB THE FREEHOLD. (By TolcETaßh.—Press Association.) Ractihi, November 1. A very large meeting o£ the settlers in the Oliotu mock was hold to-day, practically every settler being present or represented. It was unanimously decided to form au association of lessees under the Aotea Land Board, the object .being to request Parliament to give effect to the recommendation of the Native Affairs Committee, which reported favourably on the lessees' petition to acquiro the freehold. Lessees comidain of their inability to satisfactorily finance on leasss, anil settlement is being retarded by reason of the very bad road acoess. Splendid milling timber is being destroyed l<ocauso> of an unfair royalty clause in "the leases. Tho Ohotu block contains 50,000 acres, reaching from Ka-rioi, on the Main Trunk line, to tho Wangauui River, 'l'ho meeting passed a hearty vote of thanks to Messrs. Hogan, Smitlij-Pearce, Newman, 'and other members of Parliament, for their assistance.
