KAIRANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Tho monthly meeting of the Ivairanga County Council was 'held on Monday, Councillor M. Moody presiding. An offer from Mr. 'j. Kyle (Aokauterp) to allow the council to take metal from his pit at a. royalty of j<l. per yard was accepted.

Mr. J. Petersen was appointed ranger on several roads in the Fitzherbert Riding. Mr. J. Faiieta was granted permission to erect a new fence on his road boundary. Tho request of Mr. W. Pope, that tenders he called for the right of cutting grass-seed on the county roads, was held over till next moating. It was decided that tenders bo called for the. extension of College Street West to Maxwell's Line, and the inspector was instructed to proceed with tho erection of the concrete culvert provided for in the, estimates. Ho was also instructed to erect a board at the Newbury corner, opposite the cheese factory, notifying motorists of danger and speed rate. Councillor Biitche'.or called attention to the fact that certain ratepayers, including himself, had been notified to cut down trees on road frontages. He had complied with tbo notice, but others had not done so, and apparently nothing was being done to enforce the will of the council. It was decided to ask tho inspector for an explanation'.

At the request of Messrs. J. Nathan and Co., it was resolved (after consulting tho county folicitdr) to take three-quarters of an acre of land at Bunnythorpe for drainage purposes. Councillors Bryant and Yops were nominated for seats on tho Palnvsrston Hospital Board. At the conclusion of the business, Councillor Moody referred to the fact Ihat this was tho last meeting of the council before tho new councillors would bo elected, and he desired to thank members for the kindly assistance which they had given him since he had occupied the position of chairman. He also desired to thank tho county clerk (Mr. W. Rnthcrftinl), than whom, ho said, there was no bettor county clerk in the Dominion. ' Councillor Bryant also referred to the excellent feeling among councillors, and tho nssistaueo which they had all received from their clerk.
