THE DAVIS CUP.

CRACK TEAM FROM AMERICA. . At a meeting of the New Zealand Lawn Tenuis Association last evening, Mr. F. M. B. Fisher stated that Mr. Stephen Merrydcw, editor of tho United States Tennis journal, had informed him in a letter that Larned had declined to form .one in the American Davis Cup team unless Beals, Wright, and M'Laughlin wore also included. Eventually it had been arranged that the three players named should lorn) the American team. It was satisfactory to know, said Mr. Fisher, that not only would America be represented at the Davis Cup meeting in Now Zealand, but that it would be represented by almost tho finest team that tho United States could send away.

Subsequently, Mr. Pethorick, secretary of the New Zealaud Lawn Tennis Association, stated that a recent issue of "American Lawn Tennis" contained the information that tho United States team would leave for New Zealand on October 4, and that its members would spend six weeks in this country, for purposes of practice, prior to the date of the meeting. The association agreed that efforts should be made to obtain official notification at tho earliest possible moment as to the selection of the American team.
