There being no nomination in hand for tho position of president, it was acrecd
that tho Management Committee- should elect a president after consultation with tho Canterbury Association.
Some discussion took place in regard to tho appointment and location of an Appeal Council. Mr. Hurley moved that tho council should be located at Auckland, and that its personnel should be left to the Management Committee.
■A counter proposal that the council should be located at Christchurch was rejected, and the motion was agreed ix>. The Management Committee was instructed to confer with tho Auckland Association before appointing the members of tho council.
On tho motion of Mr. Fisher, tho association recorded its appreciation of the efficient services rendered by Mr. Petherick as secretary. Mr. T. Gray (Otago) moved, as an addition to Rule 40:—"That no association be entitled to exercise votes for increased strength unless application for such increase of voting power is in proper order and in the hands of tho secretary of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association at least fourteen day 3 prior to tho meeting at which such increaaed power is exercised."
The motion was agreed to. The Waikato Lawn Tennis Association, a newly-constituted body, in applying for admission to the New Zealand Association, stated that it had affiliated to it fifteen clubs, a number of which had been for some years affiliated to tho Auckland Association.
Professor Hunter suggested that the new association, before being admitted, should bo required to prove, to the satisfaction of the Management Committee, that it had a constitution in conformity with the rules of the New Zealand Association.
This was agre&d to. The Masterton Association telegraphed, protesting strongly against the application of the Wellington Association for permission to hold a tournament on January 20, 22, and 23, 1911, dates already selected as those of the Wairarapa championship and handicap tournament. This meeting, it was stated, had been held on tho dates mentioned for tho past eixteen years.
Mr. Keano proposed that the matter should be referred to the Wellington Association.
Professor Hunter moved, as an amendment that it should be referred to the Management Committee.
Ultimately the amendment was adopted by thirteen votes to five.
On the motion of Professor Hunter, votes of thanks were passed to Dr. Eaves, the representative of the association in England, and to the representatives of the association in Australia. Retiring officers and retiring members of the Management Committee wero also thanked for their services. At the suggestion of l[r. Fisher, the association unanimously expressed its honrty approval of tho Daylight Savins Bill, and thanked Mr. Sidey, the member in charge of the Bill, for his past efforts.
