HOME INDUSTRIES DEPARTMENT. Probably no greater interest is. taken in any section of the Ilawcra Show than in the home- industries department. Year by year the entries get bigger, aud the prospects for this year's event soem brighter tliau ever. The classes all through have been carefully studied, and tho variety of _ tho classes is most numerous and the prize money should commend itself to all. Provision is made for every class of cooking, including shortbread," sausage rolls, sandwiches, cream pull's, family cakes, iced and ornamented cake, jam rolls, plum puddings, pikelets, biscuit®, home-made sweets and every known delicacy. Then there are tho more substantia clashes. One fowl (dressed and ready for cooking), collection of home-made sauces, jams, jellies, and tattled fruits. For the benefit of those deft with the needle come tho classes of every description of plain and fancy sewing, from the familiar crochet to the exquisite point lace. Tho pnr.e money is well and eve?ijy allocated, and competitors have amnio encouragement in the matter of prize awards' Guinea prizes are given in bread, fcones, family cake, madeira cake, jellies, fruits, and in fancy work, smocked child's frock, cotton dress, muslin frock, table centre, and also carvings. Valuable trophies are offered as points prizes. In the cooking classes a challenge trophy is competed for ; to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals. In addition. tlie Suratura Tea Company give four 51b. boxes of Suratura tea, valued at iC2. In fancy work, a treadle drophrad sewing machine, value £7 55., has been donated. The school work classes are also well varied.
