MOUNT LYELL STRIKE.
A SETTLEMENT EXPECTED. t'y Telegraph—Press Association—(Jopyrisht Hobart, October 28. The strike at Mount Lyell is ill a fair way to settlement. Meetings of miners have accepted the proposals of directors. These provide for the dispute as to the man White's dismissal for- trespass—the causo of the strike—being submitted to a legal tribunal. All the other men will return to their former placcs, with official recognition of the union, the observance of the eighthour principle, and the appointment of a committee to deal with grievances. The company has granted a confcreneo on the wages question, meantime giving a shilling advance. Work will bo resumed at an early date.
