Mr. Lloyd-George, Chancellor of tho Exchequer, amended Clause 18, reducing tho membership from ten thousand to five thousand for approved societies, and also providing for the gronping of societies whoso membership was under fivo thousand. Tho Labour members failed to secure tho abolition of tho medical test for membership. Mr. C. F. G. Mnstorman, Under-Secretary to tho Home Office, pointed out that tho Government makes provision for persons rejected by tho societies.
