EIGHT WATERSIDE MEN ARRESTED

AT THE QUEEN'S WHARF. A rather big arrest, as arcests go, took place at the Queen's Wharf yesterday afternoon. The Moana, which arrived from Melbourne . via southern ports yesterday morning, was discharging cargo at her berth at No. 1 South, and during tho afternon it was found that a case of tobacco bore signs of having been tampered with. Tho police were communicated with and Detectives Andrews and Lewis arrived on tho sceno to make inquiries. Subsequently eight wharf labourers, who wero employed in discharging the Moana's cargo, wero arrested on suspicion and taken to tho polico station. They will appear at the Magistrate's Court this morning.
