PROSPECTS FOR THE SEASOX. Tlio Director of the Orchards and Gardens aud Apiaries Division of (ho Agricultural Department recently obtained district reports from his field officers :o as to ascertain the effect cf the rough weather of last month on tho orchards of the Dominion. These reports read as under:—Whangarci: No damage so far. Auckland: Xo damage iioticenl/le; peac'u prospect grctl. Hamilton: Littlo damage, to fruit crop noticeable. Hastings: Xo darnngo done; all orchards show splendid promise, palmerston North: Recent bad woather had no effect on fruit crops. Vi'ansanui: Orchards have, not suffered from recent southerly. Nelson: Not to any great extent; only a few young trees washed out by flood. All stojio fruit setting heavily; pears, apples, appear well. Kxpeet a phenomenal crop all fruits. Blenheim: Heavy rain and frost damaged apricots slightly; pe.iches and other fruit? all right. Canterbury: Fruit prospects good; very slight damage recent bad weather. Dunedhi: Xo damage reported; so far everything in good order.
