PEOPLE'S DAY. THECROWDS FACE THE WEATHER. FURTHER AWARDS. The weather cleared a little for "People's Day" at the Cartcrton show (yesterday), but still it was uninviting. However, the people of the district and many from long distances faced the rain and attended the show. The latter part of the afternoon was passably fine, and those who were cm the ground were able to s«e the sights without much Interference from the clement?. There was a very good attendants. Lady Islington being among those present. On Wednesday night thete was n smoke concert, over which Mr. G. W. Doller presided. Mr. W. C. Buchanan, M.P., and Mr. C. J.' Eeakes, Director of Live Stock and Meat in the Department of Agriculture, were among those present. Among the proceedings, which were very enjoyable, thero figured the. customary; toasts and appropriate items of entertainment. In the course of the speeches frequent reference, was made to the subject of training young men as judges of stock, and to tho wider subject of generally interesting jroung men in stock. Mr. Cooper, therefore, will hold tho .£2O challenge cup presented by/Mr. W. E. Bidwill. Previous winners of this cup were: IM3. IV. A. Pyko's Iteiisitira; 150 J, Miss Y.
