Tho Chief Justice (Sir John Mudden) strongly summed up against tho pri- ' soner. It was a particularly dangerous and heinous offence which had caused tho f death of the girl. It wtis a dreadful menace to tho community; it struck at " all that was best, from tho State's point f of new, in tho system of marriage prac- ; ticcs. Such men as I'eacock induced ' young girls to take tho risks and perils of an impuro life.
