MINERS' WAGES.

Tho South 'Wales Miners' Federation Exoculivo has submitted a revised demand for a minimum wngo for work in abnormal places of Bs. a day for miners and ss. for labourers. The situation in the coal trade (says tho "Manchester Guardian") is sufficiently serious to causo anxiety. There is treat discontent amongst tho lower-paid men, it being alleged (hat either through the low ra.tcs paid for "getting" certain classes of coal or else through tho working of "abnormal" places there are thousands of workers underground who cannot earn as much as 20s. per week. In tho interests of these men a minimum wage of 7s. per day is demanded. In tho ami trade, as in tho railways, thero is tho same determination on the part of a strong militant section to forco the hands of their leaders. The latter have been doing all in their power to keep tho men in check, but a point has now bivn reached when this can 110 longer bo done with safety. APPLICATION TO CONCILIATION BOARD. (Rec. October 24, 9.55 p.m.) London, October 21. Tho miners hove, decided to apply to tho Conciliation Board for a one-quarter per cent increase in tho standard wages.
