Seventeen permits were. is-, sued to outside Iwdios- to run events under N.Z.A.A.A. rules. In four cases tho ixm> mits were for meetings which were wholly amateur, but tho remainder were issued, to professional bodies, who desired to include amateur events ou their programmes. The society was well satisfied with the sport provided by the amateurs, mid has staled its intention of again providing for amateur races only during tho ensuing season. It is pleasing to note llio increasing interest in the harriers' branch of tho sport. The Brooklyn Club has now a Wpiinowlay branch, with a large number of enthusiasts.
