WELLINGTON VOLUNTEER CORPS. Tlio twelfth annual meeting of the Wellington Volunteer Fire Police Corps was held in the Mayor's L'oom. Town Hall, on Tucsdav, the Mayor (Mr. T. M. Wilford, 11.pj, presiding. The annual report stated that the membership of tho corps was now I)l—City, IS; Kilbirnie, j; Jji'ookivn. 3; Wellington South, I; Wellington North, 1; Rosene.ith, I - practically all the suburban areas being represented bv one or more members, the usefulness" of the suburban, as well as the citv members having been proved bovond all doubt. Regret was expressed at the death of Mr. W. Johnston, a useful and energetic member. The city members received, direct from the Central Station and the Exchange Telephone, 82 calls, responded to by a very fanaverage ntleiidanco of members. The response of suburban members to calls was also creditable. The statement of finances disclosed receipts amounting to X'Si -Is. 2d., as against .CIS Ss. 10.1. for th-" urevious year; and the expenditure, -Sill 18=. .Id., as agaiv-t £tt 18s. 3d., the previous year. 'I he balance to credit was .€37 Its. S'i.: last year's balance was -SIS Ss. Cd. In March last „C2o was set aside for a s'.ck and accident fund.
