INVESTMENT SITAE ES At the call yesterday sales of Metropolitan Permanent at £12 7s. 6d. and £12 65. were reported. The buying and selling quotations were as under:—
Customs revenue collected at the port- of Wellington yesterday amounted to £859 Is. Id. TRADE IX ALLEN" STREET. Fruit.—Owing to the strike in Sydney, no fruit w coming to hand to-day by the Ulimaroa, consequently there will be a dearth of mandarins and other New South Wales fruit. Transhipments ex Cook islands steamer at Auckland are due here on Friday consisting of Island orangce, bananas, pineapples and a few kuineras. Only light shipments of apples from Tasmania are due this week, hut the market is"fairly well supplied with Californian apples. ; Vegetables.—Cabbages arc fetching ss. to 7s. per sack; green peas, U. to Is. 6d. per sack, according to Quality. Cauliiiowers arc in good demand. New potatoes have declined in value, aud are now selling at la'd. to 2Jd. per lb.; regular supplies of rhubarb are coming from the Hutt district, and reali?c from 4s. to 7s. per doz. bundles. Parsnips and carrots are in excellent demand, and consignments are recommended.
Onions.—Californian arc meeting with csccllcnt sale at £12 per ton, Victoria arc selling at £7. Old potatoes have advanced in value, and now realise 85s. to 90s. per ton. Kiceiiour is quoted at £5 15s. per ton. Bran is in short supply, and is selling at £6 ss. to £6 10s. per ton. Pollard is in fair demand at £6 ss. to £6 10s. per ton. Flour.—The market is unchanged, with New Zealand brands at £9 ss. 6d. per ton, ex store, and Australia at £10 ss. to £10 103. liolled oats meet with moderate inquiry at 9s. 6d. to 10s. Oatmeal is selling at £15 to £15 10s. per ton, according to brand. Oats "A" grade Cartons, ss. fid. to 3s. 7d. per bushel. "B" grade a halfpenny less. Fowls' wheat is in excellent demand at 4s. 3d.. to 4s. sd. Maize.—Seed varieties arc in good demand. Fowls' maize is realising cs. Ed. t. 3s. 9d. Cape barley is dull of sale at 3s. fid. per bushel. Feed barley.—The demand is poor, and tho present quotation is is. 3d. to 3.-. 4d. Baled straw.—There is a scarcity of supplies, and priccc? rule from 65?. to 7C?. Clover hay is quoted at £5 10s. per ton. Kam? and bacon arc in gocd demand. Hnms at 9d.. sides GJcI., and rolls 9id. Margarine is in moderate request at BJd. Fresh eggs arc selling at 10sd. to lid. per dozen. Butter.—Prime milled butter, in bulk, is quoted at lid. Choepe.—Best factory, 6*d.: loaf, 7d.per lb. Poultry is in excellent demand. Hens, 4s. to svs.; cockerels. ss. to 65.; ducks, ss. fid. to 6s. fid. per pair; turkey gobblers, 9d. per lb. live weight; hens, 7d. SILVER. Lf.-ht, of Magdeburg, in his monthly circular, suites that the prodwtion of beet sugar in Europe during the 19J0-11 campaign, which began on September 1, shows a decrease of 42.549 tons, as compared with the previous campaign. He estimate? that the total amount produced during the current campaign will show a dscrease of 2,120,C00 tons. ADELAIDE tt*OOL KALES. "' Dalgety and Company,' Limited.
