On September 28, on the longitude of Ivcrguelen Island, communication was established with the Thernistoeles. a sister ship to the Demosthenes, which was in SQdeg. south, homeward bound. The two vessels exchanged messages for four consecutive day?, and wore 1770 miles apart when their maximum distance was covered. Communication was a!?o made with Australian shipping at a great distance through the Karoola, and thus, on October 1, the ship was indirectly in touch with South Africa and Austrslin. Communication established between the two continents with the Demosthenes as the bridge vessel, was maintained when 1L?.1.5. Cambrian, lying at Freinamle, 1253 miles dist&ut, was picked up. Corinna, s.s., is expected from southern ports this morning. She is to Fail at 6 o'clock in the evening for New Plymouth and Onehuiiga direct. Mr, Stevens, second officer of the Kini, is to go to Wcstport, to join the ICotuku as . chief. The third officer, Mr. Sicscn, of the Kotuku, is proceeding to Auckland for orders. The new Tyser steamer Indrapura has been launched at Walls-end. She is Larger and faster than the Indrabarah, anil is intended for the trade between Australia, Nevf Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The Canopus leaves Westport on Fridav for Wellington with a full cargo of coai. Part of the cargo is to be discharged here for the Wcstport Coal Company. The balance is for Lyttclton. The 'ICini is to go on the Patent Klip to-morrow afternoon, to have her tail Bhaft refitted. The vessel is also undergoing her annual survey. At 3 p.m. yesterday the northern coaster Jlnupiri, left Auckland for Wellington, ria East Cortst ports. She is expccted to arrive here on Fridav.
