THE ' PRISONER'S DEFENCE. By Telecraph—Press Association—Oopyrieht Melbourne, October 24. Tho trial of Dr. Peacock, on a charge of murdering a young woman named Mary Davis, i.s proceeding. Tho .evidence submitted for tlio defence was to the effect that the girl was treated for a threatened premature birth. Tlio girl was in great distress owing to lack of funds. Tho accused asked her to remain at his place, but she persisted in leaving. 110 did not perform any operation.
