PIG-HUNTING ACCIDENT. ' (By Tolcßracn.—Press A66ocU.lion.l Hawera, October 23. Lance Storm, aged eighteen years, waa admitted to the Hospital last night (suffering from the effects of gun-shot woundi on tho Jeft shoulder, thigh, and wrist. 110 was pig-hunting, and tripped over a. stump. His case is not considered serious. WELL-KNOWN MAORI MISSING. New Plymouth, October 23. A well-known Maori, "Ned" Skipper, has been missing since October 12. i'ho police want him to answer a charge of being unlawfully on licensed premises, but circumstances point to tho possibility of suicide or accident, as ho had borrowed si neighbour's gun. A search parly failed to find any trace of tho missing man. RUN OVER ON RAILWAY. Timaru, October 23. On Saturday as the north train was leaving Winchester at 5.50 a fatal accident occurred, Archibald Carter, about twenty-four or twenty-five, being run over and killed. Evidence taken at tho inquest was to the effect that deceased was very drunk when he got' off tho train at tho station, nnd was seen standing near the train. No one 6aw how the accident happened but, apparently, ho fell between the car ajid the platform, and, his clothing caught eflmc projection on tho guard's van, causing, him t'o bo dragged 250 yardo oevr the cattle slop. Ho I hen fell clear. He was badly cut and bruised, and his skull fractured, and he died a few min» utes later.
