An elderly woman, named Emma Crawford, alias Webster, appeared before the magistrate yesterday cliargcd with tho theft of a suit of clothes, valued at 375. Gd., Ike property of Yeitcli and Allan. Accused was in ado the subject of a prohibition order, and ordered to come, up for sentence whoa called upon. Clias. Pearson was charged with tlio theft of underwear, valued at -CI 55., the property of C. Smith and Sons, lie was fined 205., ia default seven days' detention. Frederick Lyness was charged with beinp an incorrigible rogue, and with having insufficient means of support. Accused had a list of convictions for vagrancy against him. and was sent to prison for twelve months. For insobriety, Tlios. Foley tos fined 205., in default forty-eight hours imprisonment. . Four first-offendins inebriates were leniently dealt with, and a fifth, who did not appear, forfeited tho amount of lus bail. Jean Maitliind H.-urrop was charged with insobriety, and albc. with a breach of a prohibition order. On tho first charge she. was convicted and discharged, and, on tho second, was remanded until thie morning for sentence.
