AT THE MARKETS.
Fairly heavy shipments of Australian fruit came to hand during last week, and this met with very keen demand at the Blair and Allen Street markets. Prices ranged as under:—Australian oranges, Cs., 7s. Cd.; mandarins, 7s. Cd., 10s. Cd.; lemons, Cs., Bs.; Mildura lemons, 10s. Cd.; Tasmaniau Sturmer apples, 11?., 13s. Some American apples still on hand sold at 15s. a case. Practically all localgrown lines were in good demand, especially green peas, which aro at the present time selling at Is., and Is. Cd. a peck. Rhubarb (heavy supply) brought 35., ss. a dozen. Hothoiiso cucumbers realised as., 7s. Cd. a dozen; lettuce, 2s. to Cs.; asparagus, Cd. to Is. -Id., according to size of bundles; cabbage, 2s. to ss. per sack; cauliflower, Cs. to 125.; carrots, is. to 55.; parsnips, Cs. to Bs.; cut blooms wero in short supply, and meeting with Kouil demand. Eggs (heavy supply), best brands lOd. a dozen.
