(From Our Sdcciul Correspondent.! Palmcrston North, October 21. The Manawatu Cricket Association held its annual meeting last jxijiht, Mr. \V. Lockhart-i'itzherbcrt being in the chair. The balance-sheet :-'hov,ed the finances to be in a healthy state. Starting the year with a debit balance of £'.i 4s. sd.,"thc season concluded with an amount to credit of JC3 2s. 7<1., a result that was greatly due to the interest and assistance of Mr. S, Greer, to whom the thanks ol the association wero due. The following officers were elected lor the ensuing year: —Patron, Air. J; A. Xash; president, Sir. S. Greer; vice-presidents. Messrs. H. F Gibbons, P. A. M'llardy, "W. L. Fitzherbert, H. Crouchcr, V. E. Barman, J. li. Vernon, J. P. lunes, X. Barraud, G, Bartholomew, W. Devine, T. Childs, and G. L'. Trevor; secretary ami treasurer, Mr. 1!. Waldcyrave; assistantsecretary, Mr. J. Bennett; auditor, Mr. M. Cohen; selector, Mr. l'\ E. "\Vatson; delegate to New Zealand Cricket Association, Mr. Cant. The Management Committee is to consist of one member trom eixli club in the association. The chairman and Messrs. Greer, Gibbons, and F. Oakley were appointed to wait on the Borough Council to ascertain on what terms the Sports Ground could be obtained lor the ensuing season, the grounds to remain under the control and care of tho council's men. It was decided to tall in with tho request of tiie Southland Cricket Association to opposu tjio motion at the Xow Zealand Cricket Council to alter the conditions of the liawke's Bay challenge cup competition, as unfair to the mother associations, and because of the possibility of all the matches being played in Christehurch. It was arranged to start the Wednesday cup competitions on Xovember S and tho Saturday matches on Xovember 11. "Discipline, Musketry, and Care of Arms and • Accoutrements" was the subject of an address given by Captain Kobinson. Staff Officer of Senior Cadets, to the Technical School and All Saints Cadet corps last night, after the companies had concluded their parades. The lecturo was most instructive, and the officer was accorded a vote of thank's. At the meeting of the Manawatu Cricket Association last night, it was stated that the prospects for the ensuing season were very much brighter than in tho past year. It was expected that there would be at least six teams in each of the competitions (Saturday and AVednesday), and with the object of putting the finances on a sound basis, the chairman, Mr. Fitzherbcrl, said lie would contribute JJS if five others would contribute a like amount. Mr. S. Grrar said ho would be pleased to make one of the live, and the chairman stated lie would endeavour to secure the others.
