FORECAST AND SUMMARY.
Present indications are for strong westerly winds generally, but backinE to northerly and increasing southward of New Plymouth and Napier for a westerly low pressure due to pass in the south on Monday night or Tuesday morning. Fair weather probable on tho Last Coast, but increasing cloudiness and more unsettled weather on the West Ooast and southernmost districts. Holiday prospects for general weather conditions are at prosent rather unfavourable. Tho barometer rose steadily in the north during the night, and as the storm passed rapidly eastward tho weather improved everywhere to-day. Strong southerly winds backing westward havo prevailed in Foveaux Strait. D. 0. BATES. Meteorological Ofiicc. Wellington, October 20, 1911.

Feilding, October 20—Another night's rain; fairly line day with wind; starry night. Palmerston, October 20.—Fine, but threatening to rain. A heavy wind prevailed most of the day. Shannon, October 20.—The weather continues wet. The Mana.wa.tu River is in flood, and there are about two chains of water on tho Foxton Road. Otaki, Octobcr lb— Bright sunshine; rainfall to 9 a.m., .02iii. Feathcrston, Octobcr 20— Fine, north-west bresze. Hastings, October 20.—The weather to-day has been beautifully One. r~
