CONCERNING HIDES.
RELATION TO THE MICE OF BOOTS. The Minister for Agriculture has promised to make inquiries into a question raised -by Mr. W. 11. Field, M.P., as to whether it is true that hides aro bought iii Now Zealand at a cheap rate., sent to England and tanned, and returned to this country in tho form of leather, which is sold at an enormous profit, and that thus the price of boots ' manufactured in New Zealand is rendered unnecessarily high. Mr. Field wants to know; whether tho Government cannot dev.se some method of improving such a condition of things.
