Tho property, which was owned by Mr. T. G. Mnearthy, was formerly the site of tho residence of the late Mr. John Kcbbell, and subsequently of Dr. I'ollcn. It has a frontage of 116 ft. to Manners Street by a depth of 210 ft. The price paid was .£23,000, equal to .£2OO per foot. Tho Hospital Saturday fund reached the sum of .£O3l 14s. lri. yesterday, the total having been brought up to that amount, by a donation of .£25 from Messrs.' Staples and Co., Ltd. It is expected that before tho lists are finally closed tho amount will reach tho sum of .CGSO. Tho new pnblic hall at Khandallah (now being built by Mr. John. Wood, of Taranaki Street) is expected to bo completed in about three mouths' time. Tho building, which is a wooden one, measures Sift, by 30ft., and has a seating accommodation for about 400.
