VETERANS' HOME.

ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual moetinu of tho Veterans' Home (Onchiuiga) was hold at Government Buildings, vesterdar morning, his Excellency tin- Governor (Lord Islington) presiding. There were also present: Colonel R. J. Collin?, C.M.G., Messrs. A. IT. Jtvcrs, Jr.i'., and Mr. H. C. 'loivslcy. Arx)logies £or absence were received from Sir Joseph Ward, Colonel Robin, C.8., and Mr. J. 11. B. Coatcs. The orainal report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. Tho average inimlx?r of resident veteTans has been .18.3; the number is limited bv accommodation to 10. There are seven of tho original members of tho homo remaining. During last year sixteen were admitted, three left to live with relatives, and four have died. Tho improvements effected during the year have made the home healthier and more comfortable. The drainage system has been improved and is working satisfactorily, and better lighting and ventilating arrangements have been carried out. Tho local committee at A.ucliland continues to carry out its responsible duties of managing tho affairs of tho home, and the board passed a hearty voto of thanks to it for its unremitting energy, and it was decided that a letter of cordial appreciation of their good work on behalf of the Veterans' Home during tho past vear should be sent to (he Hon. E. Mitehelson and the Auckland committee.

ft was also agreed that the hon. secretary should send letters of thanks to tho gentlemen who had given their services gratuitously for tlio benefit of the institution, including the hon. chaplains, medical and dental advisers, auditoi, and legal adviser. His Excellency the Governor was reelected president. Colonel P.. J. Collins, C.M.G.. Hon. secretary, and the Hon. E. Mitehelson, hon. treasurer. A deed appointing the Hon. E. Mitehelson and Mr. J. H. B. Coates trustees was signed.
