WELLINGTON SYNOD. Tho Wellington District ?ri»itire Methodist Synod opened at th* Sydney Street Schoolroom ytsttrday afternoon. Tho following aro "the delegates to the Synod Clerical: Rovs. I'. W. Jones, P. J. Coitmm, W. S. I'ottor, C. A. Sims, T. Coatsworth, J. Sharp, H. Daniel, J. Dumbell, J. Southern. Lay. Hon. C. M. Luko, Messrs. I. Clark, J. B. Hadden, G. Petherick, and W. A. Potts (Wellington), S. Bead and G. 11. Stiles (Foxton), J. A. Ferguson (Halcombe), and J. C. Thompson (Fcilding). Tho Bev. P. W. .Tones opened the proceedings. After devotional exercises, in which the Revs. W. S. Potter and 11. Dnniol took part, the Synod was constituted by the retiring president, ass'sttd by the Iter. C. A. Sims, district representative. Tho election of officers resulted as follows:—Bev. P. J. C'c«aim, president; Mr. Geo. Pctherick, vite-prcsiawvt; Itev. T. Coatsworth, secretary; Rev. 11. Daniel, assistant secretary; Iter. J. Sharp, letteriviitep; liev. \\ r . S. Potter, reporter; Messrs. G. Pethc/riek, and J. B. lladuon, receivers of connexional moneys. Tho retiring preau.cnt (Rev. P. W. Jones) delivered his retiring address, which was well received. Resolutions were passed on Church and Sunday School reports, all of decrease being carefully inquired inio. A considerable discussion followed the report of a decrease of five scholars in tho district, mid it was rwolvcd: "That, in the judgn.ent of this Synod, there is a great need to strongO'cn our school tinu churcli life by securing the attendonce of our children at Sunday morning worship.
