SEVENTEEN-KNOT VESSELS. By Telegraph—Mess AMOcfiation—OodstleM (Kec. October 20, 0.55 a.m.) Sydney, October 19. Captain Spronle, tho representative of the Oceanic Steamship Company, in an interview with raferonco to tho resumption of tho San J'Tancisco-Sydney service, stated that, the company's steamers Ventura, Sierra, and Sonoma aro being reconstructed at a cost of « million dollojs (X'iiOO.OOO), with a view to starting tho service. Tho company proposes to ask tho Federal Government for a subsidy of JCISCO per trip, on (ho basis of twelve trips u year, tho steamers to liavo a guaranteed speed of seventeen knots, and to make the trip from San Francisco to Sydney in twenty days. Tho company will also guarantee to land tho mails in London in thirty days.
